Here is a method that can actually help you in self-hypnosis. This method has been practiced by Hindu and Buddhist for a long time.
Switch off the lights in the room and light a candle. Make sure you have drawn curtains and there are no external lights. This is best practiced in the early morning or evening.
Light a candle and place the candle at your eye level. Make sure the flame is still and does not flicker. Sit 3 feet away from the candle. Stare at the flame, without blinking eyes. In the beginning, you cannot look at the candle for without blinking for more than 10-20 seconds. However, when you start practicing this regularly for some time, you will be able to look at the candle flame without blinking for a longer duration.
When you are able to look at the candle for at least 20 minutes without blinking, you will see a hole appear in the middle of the flame. You then walk into the hole (in your mind). You are then cut off from the world, you enter into a different existential plane.
