Self-Hypnosis: A Meditation Technique for Self Development

Hypnosis is a technique where a subject is guided to a different awareness level or trance so to speak, to open his mind by making him follow the instructions from a hypnosis practitioner. Self-hypnosis is a technique where you hypnotize yourself, without being guided by a hypnosis practitioner. You use objects like crystal balls, hypnosis spiral, music, etc. to hypnotize yourself.

While hypnosis is used in psychotherapy to treat neuro-psychotic disorders like depression, psychosis, etc., self-hypnosis is basically used for self-development. You can improve your self-esteem, confidence, develop a positive attitude by self hypnotizing yourself. Self-hypnosis will make things easier for you by train your mind to accept things, situations, and people the way they are.

Self-hypnosis is basically a meditation technique to help you enter into a different awareness plane. Just like meditation, self-hypnosis also helps in your spiritual development. Just like meditation, self-hypnosis is also a self-observation method.

You can find a lot of things in the market to self hypnotize yourself. These include crystal balls, hypnosis spiral, and audio. The audio contains music or instruction centered amount specific imagery or situations. A lot of people find easier to go into self-hypnosis through instructional audio. However, mass-produced audio might not be for everyone because these are centered around specific topics like quit an addiction, lose weight, etc. If you want to practice self-hypnosis for happiness, how could audio on quit addiction help you?

So, what you can do to self-hypnotize yourself.

Here is a method that can actually help you in self-hypnosis. This method has been practiced by Hindu and Buddhist for a long time.

Switch off the lights in the room and light a candle. Make sure you have drawn curtains and there are no external lights. This is best practiced in the early morning or evening.

Light a candle and place the candle at your eye level. Make sure the flame is still and does not flicker. Sit 3 feet away from the candle. Stare at the flame, without blinking eyes. In the beginning, you cannot look at the candle for without blinking for more than 10-20 seconds. However, when you start practicing this regularly for some time, you will be able to look at the candle flame without blinking for a longer duration.

When you are able to look at the candle for at least 20 minutes without blinking, you will see a hole appear in the middle of the flame. You then walk into the hole (in your mind). You are then cut off from the world, you enter into a different existential plane.

    I have been smoking for more than 20 years. In between time once I quit smoking and managed to stay away from smoking for about 4 years then again started and continuing. I was trying to quit again and tried a different method to quit but failed. After reading this article I feel confident that I can do it using the tool and techniques of Self-Hypnosis. Well written and very much helpful.
